Joanne works frequently with trauma survivors and the effects of childhood abuse. Her skills include working with issues such as depression, self-esteem, trauma, relationship problems and general well-being. She has a special interest in working with obsessive-compulsive disorder and general anxiety. Relationship issues, communication and conflict resolution are generally improved through the counselling that Joanne provides. She offers supportive, strength-based counselling to make life's challenges more bearable.

- Joanne has a Master's Degree in Individual Counselling and has continued her studies through Gottmann model and EFT model for working with couples. Joanne is also trained in both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as well as brainspotting, a brain-based treatment which uses specific eye position to heal trauma. She was involved with marriage preparation workshops for years and presented on issues such as Effective Communication, Conflict Resolution and Sex and Intimacy. She also facilitated small group discussions in these workshops.
