Dr. Karen Blackie graduated with Honors from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2011. Prior to that she completed a BSc and MSc in Molecular Biology. She chose to pursue a career in Optometry because of a love for teaching & caring for people. In August of 2011, she joined Transcona Optical’s team of esteemed optometrists. Dr. Blackie prides herself in providing a fun & relaxing environment, especially for young nervous patients. She is there to answer any questions you may have and offer detailed explanations.

Our optometrists are trained to diagnose & treat many vision problems & eye conditions including cataracts, dry eye, glaucoma & macular degeneration. We specialize in urgent eye care, pre & post operative surgical care, consultations & referrals, adjustment & repair of glasses, & regular and custom contact fits. We offer care in English & French & on Saturdays.
