Selam graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in health sciences and psychology. She then went on to study Chiropody at the Michener Institute at the University Health Network in Toronto. Specializing in the management and prevention of diseases and disorders of the foot.

Prior to joining the Palermo Plus Physiotherapy and Wellness Centre, she worked in community health centers and private practices, where she developed a broad range of skills and competencies. Including ingrown toenail removal, warts, corns/calluses, fungal infections, orthotics, footwear
